More about Backrings

Backup rings are manufactured from rigid thermoplastic materials and are used in combination with elastomeric sealing elements. Their primary function is to bridge larger gaps within the sealing system and protect the main seal from mechanical stress.

When paired with softer sealing elements, backup rings enable reliable operation under increased pressures, pressure peaks, elevated temperatures, and fast linear movements. In this way, they enhance the stability of the sealing arrangement and significantly extend seal service life.

To facilitate easier installation, backup rings are often produced in slotted versions, allowing quick and convenient assembly even in applications with larger diameters.
